Message from the President
As the holiday seasons approach us, and the time for Triennial is getting closer, I find a real need for thought and prayer for all that is going on in our country as well as in others. As you prepare for the joyous season celebrating the birth of our Savior, please remember to not only pray for all of these situations, but that others will find a way to common ground and peace.
The National Episcopal Church Woman Board wishes all of you a joyous holiday season. We hope that you all will remember the less fortunate at this time – as well as throughout the year – and also do for those in conflict. Even the little things like a ‘good morning’ and a smile can help!
I hope to see all of you at Triennial in Louisville in June. We have a lot planned for you.

National Episcopal Church Women Presidenta 2022 – 2024
Con las fiestas decembrinas aproximándose, y el tiempo para la Trienal cada día acercándose mucho más, siento una necesidad real por la oración y ponderación debido a todo lo que está ocurriendo en nuestro país al igual que en otros. Mientras te preparas para la celebración de las fiestas decembrinas donde se celebra el nacimiento de nuestro Salvador, por favor recuerda el no solo orar por estas situaciones difíciles, pero también por el hecho de que nuestro prójimo pueda encontrar la paz y afrontar la justicia por el bien común.
La Junta Nacional de la Iglesia Episcopal les desea a todos ustedes unas celebraciones decembrinas llenas de alegría. Esperamos que durante este tiempo se acuerden de los menos afortunados -al igual que el año entero-. Y no solo los menos afortunados, sino también por aquellos que se encuentren en conflicto. En ese sentido, incluso los pequeños detalles como decir los “buenos días” y una sonrisa pueden ayudar.
Espero verlos a todos en la Trienal que se celebrara en junio. Tenemos tantísimo planeado para ustedes.
Presidential Happenings
The Church Women United Common Council approved Ms. Patterson to represent the National Episcopal Church Women on their board. Pictured left, Church Women United President Mira Washington with Ms. Patterson. They have twenty-six participating denominations that collaborate to create a better world for all humanity.

El Consejo Común Unido de Mujeres de la Iglesia aprobó a la Sra. Patterson para representar a las Mujeres de la Iglesia Episcopal Nacional en su junta Directiva. Ms. Patterson represented The Episcopal Church Women at Parliament of World Wide Religions. She also served on a panel on Women’s Issues arranged by Ann Smith, former Women’s Ministries office at the National Church Office.

The national board recently approved a grant for cows. Dairy cows for children in South Sudan. Ms. Annie Kate Jacobs, Social Justice Chairperson for the Board, announced the approval of the grant via email:

The Renaissance Collaborative
The second floor of The Renaissance Collaborative building in Chicago, IL. holds a portal to the past. The former YMCA building has seen a rebirth as a support service and assisted housing location for Chicagoans in need. As with all old buildings, some things work and some things don’t. The entryway elevator is no exception and falls to the not working aspects of old building renovation projects. However, when the National Board visited the location back in Spring of 2023, they gleefully climbed the ancient-marble stairs and in so doing were immersed in the embrace of a building that shared her history and ongoing legacy.

Inequalities in Black Women’s Health
Recently, there has been a lot of information on the status of women’s reproductive health in the United States. Little attention has been paid to the lack of health equity for Black women. In the Journal of Women’s Health, Vol. 30, No. 2, writers Juanita J. Chin, Iman K. Martin, and Nicole Redmond not only discuss the historical basis of this inequity but they also stress the need for health equity.

Recientemente, ha habido mucha desinformación sobre el estatus de la salud reproductiva de las mujeres en los Estados Unidos. It almost didn’t happen. A minute or two either way and two women would never have reconnected threads that were about 50 years old. Mary Hansen Wolfe, pictured right, and her niece were traveling in the fall of 2016, heading back to Mary’s home in Salida, Colorado, after a painting trip to the Vermilion Cliffs in Arizona.

Well, as with life, it is done little bit by little bit. We often don’t know where we are heading or what lies ahead, yet with faith and trust we move forward. Our trio – Christine Budzowski, Winifrid Follett and Evita Krislock – set forth on a journey three years ago. We wanted to delve into women’s leadership circles, using Women of Vision as our foundation.

A Young Voice for Climate Change
Adrienne Elliott, pictured right, works for the Diocese of Olympia in Western Washington as the Program Coordinator for Multicultural Ministries & Community Transformation, which also includes Creation Care. In 2022 she finished her Master’s in Climate Science and Policy at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Beyond the work she does for Olympia, she is also involved with the Diocese of San Diego’s Creation Care Community. Adrienne is passionate about intersections of environmental justice, grassroots organizing and activating the church for partnership with the wider community.

We should be familiar with these words offered by Christ at the end of the Gospel according to Matthew. He gives a charge to evangelize throughout the world while reminding us that we are not alone. Indeed, we are not alone! We can find the body of Christ, around us and with us, during our day to day lives and ministry.

The Story of St. Nicholas, Bishop of Myra
On December 6, Christians around the world will celebrate St. Nicholas Day. St. Nicholas is renown for his relationship to modern-day Santa Claus, but he must be among the saints with the most patronages. He is patron saint of at least 115 groups. Many of the people who call him their patron saint are connected with sailing, ships or the sea. A large part of his patronage is children and encompasses orphans, students and infants.

Helping the Women of Pakistan
The Women to Women grant is a program of the Episcopal Church Women which helps by granting seed money to charitable or income-producing projects which improve lives and strengthen communities. This Triennial’s grant is awarded to Women Development & Services (WDS), Diocese of Raiwind-Church of Pakistan. Women’s economic participation helps to drive growth at a national level and reduce poverty. Societies that make better use of the skills, talents and time of all members will more likely prosper.

De Mujer a Mujer es un programa de Mujeres de la Iglesia Episcopal que ayuda otorgando capital inicial a proyectos caritativos o generadores de ingresos que mejoran vidas y fortalecen a las comunidades. La subvención de esta Trienal se otorga a la organización del Desarrollo y Servicio de Mujeres (Siglas en Ingles WDS), ubicada en la Diócesis de Raiwind-Iglesia de Pakistán.
