Diocese of Rhode Island

Our Distinguished Woman for 2024 is our current Diocesan ECW president, Linda Guest. She is a former VP of the National Board of the Episcopal Churchwomen (2012-2015) Linda had the planning responsibility for our last full Triennial Meeting in Austin, Texas.

Linda is the model, collaborative, leader whose dedication and follow through is a model for others to see. She is a lifelong Episcopalian and has spent a good deal of her volunteering ministry in this church that she loves.

As a youngster growing up in the church, Linda was an avid camper at our diocesan camp, youth group member and all around helper when needed. Linda now serves among the committees and leadership group for our camp: fundraising, planning and adding to the sustainability of its important ministry to the children and youth of our diocese.

During the worst days of the Covid epidemic, Linda was the Sr. Warden of  her local church, St. David’s on the Hill in Cranston, RI.  It also was during the time they were searching for a new rector.  Linda was the wise and experienced leader they needed then.  Her long experience in the church was a great resource for her then, and for the congregation coping with so much uncertainty.

“Carry on, keep at it, roll up your sleeves” come to mind when one thinks of Linda’s style and her efforts on behalf of others.  Our diocesan board is eager to recognize Linda’s long service to the church and to our ECW.
