Triennial Convention Update

Presiding Bishop Curry and President of the House of Deputies recently made an announcement regarding the planning for the next General Convention.  A copy of their letter has been posted on our website and on our Facebook page.  The ECW Triennial meets in conjunction with General Convention and we will be making our plans now that we have a firm date.  It will be very similar to the dates shown for General Convention.  As we make more plans and definite arrangements, notice will be placed on our website, posted on Facebook and possibly some of them will be in our Communique.  If you haven’t signed up on the website to receive the weekly news blast, now is a good time.  Check out the resources available on the site.  New things will be added regularly, i.e., distinguished woman information, Triennial certification information, etc.  Lots of past information on the website for you to check out also! – Karen Patterson – President 2018 – 2021

Holy Trinity in St. Paul, MN Continues Annual Project of Meals For The Holidays

The Guild of the Black Madonna at Holy Trinity in St. Paul Minnesota has raised over $2000.00 for Thanksgiving meals in The Twin Cities this week.  They celebrated 40 years of service to the church and community in 2016.  This year the added challenges of COVID and violent summer protests have resulted in elevated job losses and homelessness in the Twin Cities.

The group’s annual projects include Dress for Success, a twice a year program for the Guild to collect gently used clothing and cosmetics for women who are returning to work; March Food Drive, asking members to make cash  donations or supply canned goods; and the Thanksgiving Gift Card Drive to solicit and collect funds to support an outreach program to give $10-20 gift cards to needy  families at the Hallie Q. Brown Day Care Center in St. Paul and the Sabathani Senior program in Minneapolis.

Since 2017 the parish also sponsors an ongoing series called Community Conversations, which focuses on a variety of issues relating to understanding and reconciliation of diversity and racial disparity.  These forums are open and free to the public.  Anyone wishing for more information, or who wishes to participate in these ministries, may contact the Rev. James Wilson so that he can direct them to the appropriate program.  https://www.holytrinityepiscopalmn.org/contact/

Need for meals continues to grow

Greenfield Recorder – Greenfield, MA

Free meals on Sundays have been available for several months at the Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew. But recently the need has increased rapidly. Since September, the church has gone from distributing about 25 meals a week to nearly 90 this week, and it still seems to be growing.

“It’s good that we’re here, but bad that we have to be,” said Marie Paquette, the chief soup maker at the church.

On Sunday mornings, a handful of volunteers meet at the church to prepare sandwiches and soups, which they then package with crackers and snacks in paper bags. […]

Quilts of Valor bestowed upon local veterans

Coastal Point – Bethany Beach, DE

Five veterans were presented with handmade quilts, fashioned in shades of red, white and blue, at an “Honoring All Who Served” Veterans Day service at St. Martha’s Episcopal Church in Bethany Beach.

As each name was called during the outdoor ceremony on the sunny morning of Wednesday, Nov. 11, a “Quilt of Valor,” made by members of the St. Martha’s Stitchers, was placed around the veteran’s shoulders, evoking nods and smiles of appreciation and tear-filled eyes. […]

Ellsworth Church’s holiday fair proceeds will help heat homes of those in need

WABI  5 – Ellsworth, ME

Carol Mason and her group of volunteers at Saint Dunstan’s Episcopal Church are not letting the pandemic slow down their efforts to help Mainers this winter.

Their annual holiday fair, which is held to raise funds for local charities, is all online this year.

“This year we knew back in June that we probably wouldn’t be able to pull it off, so we decided to try it virtually since we have a beautiful website, we built the marketplace for it on the website,” said Carol Mason, Chair of the church’s holiday fair committee.

“We’ve had over 300 items divided up into baked goods and sewing creations and crafts, and miscellaneous treasures which are some of the things you can see here, things for kids, things for home, things for garden, what have you,” she added. […]
