Yet We Persist - A Play Honoring the History of Episcopal Church Women and the Emery Sisters
As you may know, January 9th is the day that is set aside to celebrate the life of Julia Chester Emery in the church. And as we all now know from our award winning performance of the play, Yet We Persist, at Triennial 2009, Julia and the other women of that time deserve to have their lives celebrated.
As VP of Information and Communications I received an email from the Rev. K. Jeanne Person, Director for the Center for Christian Spirituality at the General Theological Seminary, asking for a copy of “Yet We Persist” to help educate women seminarians about the history of women’s leadership in the Episcopal Church. One of the Seminary community groups, the St. Blandina Society, will work with her to do a staged reading as the ECW National Board did at Triennial 2009. She asked for a copy.
I contacted the author, Katerina Whitley, to ask her permission to send a copy…and received an even better gift. Episcopal Church Women are now able to download the play and use it to continue to spread the ECW story. The files are available in our Media Gallery or by direct link: Yet We Persist in PDF format

The National Board of Episcopal Church Women is pleased to offer this play to ECW organizations who might like to present the play in honor of and celebrating the Emery Sisters and the work they accomplished.
