The 47th Triennial Meeting of the Episcopal Church Women will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana in July 2012. Your National Board of the Episcopal Church Women is asking you to identify and submit the name of a woman in your diocese who you know and feel is deserving of the Distinguished Woman Award, formerly referred to as the Honored Woman Award.
The name of the award has been changed following a review of the history of the 1991 Triennial resolution which states that “each diocesan delegation is asked to bring the name and biography of a woman in their diocese whose life in the secular community reflected her Christian values” and that “a distinguished woman in every diocese be honored at each Triennial Meeting.”
We ask that you and your board give careful thought and consideration in identifying a woman and that you invite and encourage others in your diocese to assist with the selection. Please make your decision in 2011 and get your information to us by December 31st, as we must compile the booklet in early 2012. Members of the current National Episcopal Church Women Board are not eligible to receive this award.
We would like to know about your Distinguished Woman. Tell us her history and why you believe she deserves the name “Distinguished Woman”. We will all honor her with you.
Along with the form, please include a 4×5 photograph, in color if possible, to be included in the printed Distinguished Women Booklet of 2012. You may send the photo separately, if you wish, as a jpeg file to nancyRcrawford@comcast.net.
If you have any questions, please contact Margaret A. Cash, Chairperson of the Distinguished Woman Program, at 718-994-1946, or macash401@aol.com.
Please let me know if my nomination forms and picture got to you. Where it asked for name and e mail of nominator I wrote my name but really she has been nominated by the ECW Board. Does that make a difference?
Is there any extended date for submitting someone.
Diocese of Virginia is in the process of determing.
