Women's Empowerment
  • Women ONE2ONE Women ONE2ONE is a growing voice made up of people who know that maternal health, girls' education, economic opportunity and women's empowerment are key to fighting poverty and preventable disease for everyone. This campaign recognizes women as change-makers, community-builders and peace builders. Together, we will harness our power to connect, take action and shape the future.
  • United Nations Commission on the Status of Women: Beijing +15 In March 2010, the Commission on the Status of Women gathered to undertake a fifteen-year review of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly.   Emphasis was to be placed on the sharing of experiences and good practices, with a view to overcoming remaining obstacles and new challenges, including those related to the Millennium Development Goals.  Member States, representatives of non-governmental organizations and of UN entities were scheduled participate in the session.  A series of parallel events provided additional opportunities for information exchange and networking.

Shirley Greiman, Province 1 Representative to the ECW National Board, shares her experience attending this gathering with the Rev. Irene Miller Radcliff, Social Justice, representing Episcopal Church Women Here. An avid photographer, Shirley's photos are available in our Social Justice Photo Album.
