ECW in Diocese of Fort Worth Up and Running

The Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Fort Worth has completed the reorganization that became necessary when the former bishop and several other leaders of the diocese, including nearly all the ECW board, left the Episcopal Church in 2008. With the help of Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, the diocese reorganized under the leadership of Provisional Bishop Edwin F. [Ted] Gulick Jr. The members of the ECW board who remained Episcopalians also went to work.
Led by Marti Fagley, the women got organized, selected delegates to Triennial [Meredith Killingsworth, Deacon
Sharla Marks, and Cynthia Hill], and began reaching out to women across the diocese. Because they do not have access to diocesan data bases which remain in the hands of non-Episcopalians for now, they had to get creative in their efforts to locate Episcopal women. This was especially challenging because Episcopalians in all but five parishes and two missions were displaced from their buildings, which are occupied by non-Episcopalians.
In late September they invited all the women of the diocese to a Coffee in the Garden, a hugely successful event whose sole purpose was to allow women from across the diocese to get to know one another. The previous ECW was not active within the Province nor did they send delegates to Triennial in the past several years. As a result many women in the diocese are not familiar with what ECW is or what it does.
On Oct. 24 the ECW had its Fall Gathering at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church at which they passed bylaws and elected officers and delegates and alternates to Triennial. National ECW President Marcia Himes spoke as did Province VII Representative Patsy J. Duncan.
New officers are President Meredith Killingsworth of St. Alban’s, Arlington; Vice President
Marti Fagley of Parker County Episcopalians; Treasurer
Lynne Minor of All Saints Fort Worth; Secretary Susann Eller
of Trinity Fort Worth; and Historian Cynthia Hill of All Saints Fort Worth.
Delegates to Triennial are Lynn Minor and Jackie Meeks. Alternates are
Laura Adcock and Dot Hood.
